When to Chase

Chasing a hand is can be the demise of many a skilled online poker player. “Chasing” occurs when you have a draw hand, and you continue playing in hopes of making your hand. Sometimes a casino online player will hope beyond hope that their cards will come, or will “go with their gut” feeling that he will overcome the odds against him, and most times it doesn’t work out. However, it isn’t always a bad idea to chase a hand. The times are very few and very far between, but situations do occur when it is actually your best option. A good time to chase a online poker hand is when you can get a cheap look at the next card. If you have a flush draw and, there’s $150 in the pot and it’s only $10 more dollars to see the turn, go for it. Compared to what you’ll win, a $10 investment is a bargain.

Another time when it’s advisable to chase a hand is when you have plenty of outs. If you have a K-10 of clubs and the flop comes Queen of hearts, Jack, of clubs and 3 of clubs, you’ve got plenty of cards that can make your hand, whether it’s a straight or a flush (or even both), you’ve got such good odds that they’re worth chasing.
