Sony DCRSR37ES - the Small Camcorder with the Big Hard-Drive

The digital camcoder made by Sony that contains a 60BG hard-drive which can store around a huge 45 hours of video content is the DCR-SR37ES. Without a tape or disk in sight, recording video to a hard drive offers you random access to quickly locate desired material, the ability to effortlessly delete unwanted material and easily rearrange the playback sequence. What’s more, there’s no danger of mistakenly recording over something that’s to be saved. And with the Sony DCR-SR37 there’s even a Face Index and Film Roll Index feature for easy browsing and reviewing of your footage.

With the Advanced 1 Megapixel HAD CCD the movie playback quality is fantastic. It works by placing a microscopic lens on top of each pixel so that as much light as possible can be focused onto it. The result is that the colour noise is reduced whilst the image quality is enhanced. There’s a large, widescreen 2.7 inch touch panel LCD screen for easy scene selection and Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization to ensure clean, sharp results when you’re shooting handheld. The onboard zoom microphone makes a fine job of picking up the dialogue of your subjects and filtering out all the background noise. The lens made by Carl Zeiss contains a powerful 60x optical and up to 2000x digital zoom.

Even when you are filming a stationary subject you can easily ruin your shot by moving the camera. SteadyShot is a handy digital image stabiliser that is active every time you shoot. This is especially important when using the powerful zoom to close in on details. Using the Super Smart mic on the Sony DCRSR37ES you can zoom in on exactly the sounds of your subjects and just record what you need and not all the other distractions as well.

One of the great pleasures of shooting film is sharing it with family and friends. It couldn’t be easier with the SR37. Transfer your films to your PC using a super-fast USB 2.0 connection and use your DVD burner to make DVD copies. It is even possible to burn from the camera without a PC if you are out and about. You need to buy the optional portable DVD burner for this and that will connect direct to the camera.

You can manage your movie collection on your PC by the installation of the software which is supplied with the Sony DCRSR37ES. It makes it a very easy task to create an archive. Movies can be organised by person or by date and searching is fast and efficient. From the archive you can burn them to disks, send them to friends or upload them to sites in a matter of seconds. If you connect your SR37 or computer directly to any TV you can view your work on the big screen too.
